I was born and raised in Southern California, specifically in the San Fernando Valley. As a teenager, I channeled my energy into music as the lead singer of a ‘garage’ rock band. I later graduated from Cal State Northridge with a business degree. Throughout my life, music has been a constant. I’ve performed in church, community, and a cappella choirs simultaneously, and in 2011, I had the incredible honor of singing at Lincoln Center in New York for the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
At age 20, I married, and we were blessed with two children, Michele and Shawn. In 1970, I joined the family business, S. H. Fish Electric Co. Eventually, my brother and I ran it together for 40 years. In total, the business spanned 83 years, making it the oldest electrical contracting business in Southern California. I later met Mary through Parents Without Partners, and we were married for 24 wonderful years until her tragic passing in a plane crash in 2016.
Currently, I keep a full and active schedule here in the South Bay community. As a dedicated parishioner at the Lutheran Church, I enjoy baking casseroles for our Sunday services. I am also an active member of the South Bay Senior Connection, where I lead a group activity called "Moving to The Classics"—a sing-along and sway event every third Friday featuring 60s–80s favorites. I also enjoy singing my favorite songs to the small crowd during the event. I fill my remaining time with reading, puzzles, watching sports, spending time with my pup, Cody, and enjoying the company of friends.
