Mark McCormick has come full circle at Ascension. His first musical experiences were at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church and School in Chicago, IL where he was first introduced to the beauty and power of the Lutheran hymns and sacred music. Since then, his career as a performer and teacher has brought him around the globe and back. He holds B.S. and M.M. Degrees in music education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and has been a music educator both privately and in the public schools. In 2018 he was recognized as a Grammy in the Schools Music Educator Award quarterfinalist for his work at Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach. Currently, Mark teaches voice, piano and composition from his home and continues to serve as principal accompanist, vocal coach and arranger with the Angel City Chorale, an award winning community choir that has performed internationally and been featured on America’s Got Talent.
