I feel greatly blessed to serve on Council at Ascension. My husband and I previously had the pleasure of knowing Pastor Scott when he was our daughter Danielle’s Youth Pastor at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Torrance. We both feel Ascension is truly filled with a wonderful abundance of God’s people, truly a great place of worship and fellowship with other believers. I was brought up in the Catholic faith, and became a Lutheran as a young adult. I have been attending our wonderful ladies Bible group, The Joy Sisters. Our leader is June Kuehn, who is just amazing; the group really lives up to its name. I am still trying to get into the swing of retirement after having taught elementary and middle schoolers for 32 years. I spent the last 26 years teaching sixth, seventh and eighth-grade math and science at Dana Middle School in the Wiseburn School District. By now I should be an expert on retirement; after all, I did get to practice every summer! Some of my new interests have been learning how to cook a plant-based diet, and trying out pickle-ball. I also have been enjoying bike-riding when the bike path is not so crowded. I look forward to serving and worshiping with my Ascension family, no matter what curves are thrown our way.
